Trump Considers Second Aircraft Carrier for Middle East

U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly considering deploying a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, according to The Wall Street Journal. The Pentagon has ordered a second aircraft carrier to prepare for potential deployment to the region, bolstering the American military presence.
The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush is the most likely candidate, currently completing exercises off the coast of Virginia. The transit of a Carrier Strike Group from the U.S. East Coast to the Middle East would take weeks.
Concurrently, six F-35A fighters from the Vermont Air National Guard have redeployed to Jordan. F-15E Strike Eagles, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and E/A-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft are already operating in the region.
Meanwhile, Trump held a three-hour meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Iran's nuclear program. Trump stated he prefers a negotiated solution but did not rule out military options.
The leak regarding a second aircraft carrier serves as a tool of pressure on Tehran, increasing deterrence levels but also the risks of miscalculation.
