Trump: "Monumental Damage" to Iranian Nuclear Facilities

US President Donald Trump stated via Truth Social that the US armed forces caused "monumental damage" to Iran's nuclear energy program facilities.

Trump's decision to engage in Israel's military campaign against Iran represents an escalation of the conflict, following talks and before the expiration of the two-week deadline he had set.

The strikes took place while Israel and Iran were conducting an air war for over a week, resulting in deaths and injuries in both countries.

Iran's parliament approved in the first phase the proposal to close the Strait of Hormuz, a sea passage through which almost 20% of global oil and gas trade passes.

Oil prices rose 4% at the start of trading in Asian markets, before the rise was limited.
