UNOPS: Cyprus' Humanitarian Aid to Gaza is Significant

The head of UNOPS, Jorge Moreira da Silva, described Cyprus' humanitarian aid to Gaza as significant. The shipment of 1,200 tons of aid from Limassol Port is part of the “Amalthea” Plan.
In a post on “X”, Mr. Da Silva stated that the mission is under the UN 2720 mechanism managed by UNOPS. The aid will be transshipped through Ashdod Port.
Mr. Da Silva stressed the need for a rapid, unimpeded, and safe flow of humanitarian aid to citizens in need.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the mission falls under the UN-2720 and UNOPS mechanism, with World Central Kitchen as the implementing partner.
