Baghdad: Explosions and Hotel Fire After Drone Attacks

Strong explosions rocked Baghdad, with an AFP journalist reporting that air defense systems intercepted a projectile targeting the US Embassy in the Green Zone.

A fire broke out on the roof of the Al Rasheed Hotel, with no casualties reported, according to the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. Two security sources reported a rocket or drone attack against the US Embassy and the Al Rasheed Hotel, both located in the Green Zone.

The area was cordoned off by security forces, while fire trucks and ambulances rushed to the scene. The hotel hosts the EU delegation and European diplomatic offices.
