Pope Leo XIV expressed the Roman Catholic Church's solidarity with the suffering Palestinian people in Gaza, stressing that "there is no future based on violence, forced displacement, and revenge." The statement was made in St. Peter's Square at the end of Sunday's prayer.

The pontiff hailed the solidarity initiatives towards the Palestinians, reiterating the need for peace and condemning violence. He also referred to the ongoing attacks by Israel in the Gaza Strip, where, according to civil defense, at least 87 people were killed on Saturday.

Pope Leo XIV has repeatedly called for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and respect for international humanitarian law.
