Foreign Ministry on Alert for Repatriation of Greeks from Middle East

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is on alert for the repatriation of Greeks from the Middle East as the crisis in the region escalates. A teleconference will be held at 17:00 under the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis with the ambassadors in the countries of the region.
According to the Foreign Ministry, this is an extremely complex operation due to the state of war, the involvement of many countries, the number of Greek residents and visitors, and the restrictions on flights.
The Crisis Management Unit and special digital registration platforms have been activated. In the United Arab Emirates, more than 2,200 Greeks have expressed a desire to be repatriated.
There is a shortage of available hotels in Dubai. The plan foresees a mass evacuation as soon as flight capabilities are restored. Until then, Greek citizens are advised to avoid travel.
