National Guard Arrives in Washington D.C. Following Trump's Order, Mayors React

The first members of the National Guard have arrived in Washington D.C. following an order from Donald Trump to take control of the city's police force to reduce crime. The move has sparked reactions from mayors of other cities, who are calling it an "abuse of power."
Trump, in a post on Truth Social, stated that Washington D.C. "has become one of the most dangerous cities in the world." White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt announced that 23 arrests were made in the city.
Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser stated that she will cooperate with the National Guard. However, mayors such as Brandon Scott of Baltimore and Barbara Lee of Oakland have expressed their opposition. Karen Bass, mayor of Los Angeles, described the action as a "government experiment" and an "abuse of power."
Many are denouncing Trump's order as a "show of force," as violent crime rates are at their lowest levels in the last 30 years, according to data from the U.S. Department of Justice.
