US: Flight Cancellations Due to Federal Shutdown

Hundreds of flights are being canceled in the US due to the ongoing federal shutdown. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has asked airlines to reduce flights by up to 10% due to a shortage of air traffic controllers.
At least 40 airports are expected to be affected. American Airlines and United Airlines have stated that they will each cancel more than 200 flights per day. Delta Air Lines plans to cancel approximately 170, and Southwest Airlines around 120.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned of 'massive chaos' due to staff shortages, while employees are under financial pressure as they work without pay.
The situation is expected to worsen as Thanksgiving approaches, a peak travel period.
