US: Pilot Dies Attempting Land Speed Record

A pilot died at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA, on Sunday while attempting to break the land speed record. 60-year-old Chris Raschke lost control of his vehicle, a streamliner called "Speed Demon," when it reached 457 km/h.
According to the Southern California Timing Association, Raschke received medical attention at the scene but succumbed to his injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Dennis Sullivan, president of the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association, stated that motorsports are inherently dangerous, but such accidents do not happen often.
Raschke had worked in motorsports for over four decades and was a respected driver, according to Keith Pedersen, race director of Speed Week.
