USA: 61-Year-Old Dies in Tragic MRI Accident on Long Island

A 61-year-old man died in an MRI accident on Long Island, USA, after being pulled into the machine while wearing a 9-kilogram metal chain.
The incident occurred on July 16 at the Nassau Open MRI medical center. The man entered the imaging room with the chain he used for exercise. The strong magnetic force pulled him instantly, causing cardiac arrest.
His wife, Adrienne Jones-McAlister, was present and described harrowing scenes. She claimed that the staff knew about the chain and did not express concern.
MRI scanners use strong magnetic fields capable of launching metal objects. Patients must remove all metal objects before the examination. The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering warns of serious injuries.
The case is under investigation by authorities.
