Iran: Arrests and Executions Surge After Conflict with Israel
Share on:

Iranian authorities have arrested hundreds of people and carried out dozens of executions following the 12-day conflict with Israel. Human rights organizations accuse Tehran of repression.

According to the NGO “Human Rights in Iran,” six men were hanged as spies for Israel, and more than 1,000 were arrested for events related to the conflict.

Roya Boroumand, of the NGO “Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for Human Rights,” stated that Iranian authorities are trying to suppress popular discontent after the blow from Israel.

Judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei called for swift trials for those accused of spying for Israel.

Among those arrested is freedom of expression activist Hossein Ronaghi. Following the Israeli strike on Evin prison, prisoners were transferred to undisclosed locations, possibly including French national Cécile Kohler, her partner Jacques Paris, and student Ali Younesi.
