California: ICE Agents Shoot Man Who Allegedly Tried to Run Them Over

A man was shot and injured by ICE agents in California after allegedly attempting to run them over with his car in the city of Patterson. The FBI has secured the area, and the injured man was taken to a hospital.
According to ICE Director Todd Lyons, agents were approaching a vehicle when the driver, described as a "wanted gang member," tried to hit them with the car. "As agents approached the vehicle, a wanted gang member used his vehicle as a weapon in an attempt to run over a law enforcement officer. Applying what they have learned in training, our officers fired their weapons in self-defense," Lyons stated.
The man was injured by the gunfire and taken to a hospital, while federal authorities, including the FBI, secured the scene. ICE reports that the suspect is a gang member from El Salvador, was illegally in the United States, and is wanted in connection with a homicide investigation. Reuters notes that it was unable to independently verify the information.
The incident occurred in Patterson, a rural town of approximately 25,000 residents, about 145 kilometers southeast of San Francisco.
