New York: Deadly 'Subway Surfing' Challenge – Two Dead

Two young girls have died in New York City as victims of the dangerous 'subway surfing' challenge. The incident occurred on Saturday at the Marcy Avenue and Broadway station in Brooklyn.
The girls were found dead on top of a subway train. Authorities have issued a warning about the growing trend on social media, where users are encouraged to walk on top of moving trains.
The president of New York City Transit called the event 'heartbreaking,' while Mayor Eric Adams had warned about the dangers of 'subway surfing' as early as June.
According to the NYPD, 229 people have been arrested for similar attempts in 2024, compared to 135 in 2023. The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) has launched an awareness campaign with the slogan 'Ride inside, stay alive'.
