Nicolás Maduro: Transport to New York Court for Trial

Nicolás Maduro was transported to the Brooklyn courthouse in New York to stand trial alongside his wife, Cilia Flores. The transfer was carried out by motorcade from the Metropolitan Detention Center.
Maduro, wearing a brown jumpsuit and orange shoes, was transported by helicopter, escorted by heavily armed police officers. Subsequently, an armored van transported him and his wife to the courthouse.
Maduro and Flores face charges of drug trafficking in the United States. They have been transferred to the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, a prison founded in 1994 that has previously housed figures such as Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Ghislaine Maxwell.
Former inmates and lawyers have denounced the detention conditions at MDC Brooklyn, citing unsanitary and inhumane conditions. In 2019, inmates were left in freezing cells due to a power outage, while in 2024, inmate murders occurred.
Switzerland has frozen any assets held by Nicolás Maduro and his associates in the country.
