Three officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) were escorted from their offices following their resignations. The resignations come after the removal of Susan Monarez from her position as head.

Debra Houry, Dimitri Daskalakis, and Dan Jernigan were escorted from the organization's headquarters in Atlanta. Houry was the chief medical officer, Daskalakis the director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), and Jernigan the director of the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases.

U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stated that the CDC should implement Donald Trump's agenda. Monarez, according to her lawyers, was targeted for refusing to support "unscientific directives."

Bill Cassidy, chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, stated that the committee will review the departures.
