Texas: 11-year-old fatally shot while playing doorbell prank

An 11-year-old boy died in Houston, Texas, after being shot while participating in a prank involving ringing doorbells and running away.
According to the Associated Press, the tragedy occurred on Saturday night. The minor, along with other children, was ringing doorbells and running away before the residents could open the door.
The Houston Police Department announced that the 11-year-old was seriously injured by a gunshot and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. Police spokeswoman, Sey Awosiyan, stated that investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
This incident adds to a series of similar tragedies where seemingly harmless pranks have led to fatalities. In 2023, in California, a man was convicted of triple homicide after killing three teenagers who pranked him. In May, in Virginia, a man fatally shot an 18-year-old who was ringing his doorbell for a TikTok video.
