Trump: Supreme Court's Ruling on Tariffs is a 'Disgrace'

Donald Trump called the US Supreme Court's decision on tariffs a 'disgrace,' after the court ruled that he exceeded his powers by imposing tariffs on many products entering the US.

The ruling, issued by a majority of six justices in favor to three against, states that Donald Trump cannot justify these tariffs due to an economic emergency.

The decision concerns tariffs presented as 'retaliatory' by the American government, but not those applied to specific sectors of economic activity, such as the automotive industry or steel and aluminum.

Chief Justice John Roberts stated that the US President must 'have clear authorization from Congress' in order to impose tariffs.

These tariffs were announced in April and theoretically targeted countries with which the US faced a trade deficit.

In recent days, the US Government has announced new agreements with several Southeast Asian countries, such as Vietnam and Indonesia.
