Trump Warns of Layoffs and Cuts Amid Shutdown

U.S. President Donald Trump warned on Thursday of federal employee layoffs and program cuts if the shutdown is extended.

"There might be layoffs, and that will be their fault," Trump said, blaming Democrats in Congress. The statement was made in an interview with OAN television network, regarding a memorandum from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) of the White House.

The American President also mentioned the possibility of program cuts, emphasizing that "I have the discretion to cut programs that shouldn't have been approved in the first place, and I probably will."
