Trump Warns of Layoffs and Cuts Amid Shutdown

US President Donald Trump has warned of potential federal employee layoffs and program cuts if the shutdown continues.

"There may be layoffs, and that's their fault," Trump said, blaming congressional Democrats.

He also mentioned the ability to cut programs that he believes should not have been approved, adding, "I have the discretion to cut programs that should not have been approved in the first place, and I probably will."
