The Trump administration is considering deploying 1,000 National Guard troops to Louisiana to combat crime, according to Pentagon documents cited by the Washington Post. This move follows similar actions in Los Angeles and Washington.

The documents state that the deployment is at the request of Louisiana's Republican Governor, Jeff Landry, although there is no confirmation of this. According to the plan, the military would assist in law enforcement in cities such as New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Donald Trump also mentioned the deployment of the National Guard in Memphis. Experts describe the plan for Louisiana as highly irregular, as there does not appear to be an official request from the governor's office.

The National Guard deployment would last until September 30, 2026.
