Eurostat Analysis: Food Prices in Cyprus Compared to the EU

According to a Eurostat analysis for 2024, food and service prices in Cyprus fluctuate compared to the European Union average.
Cyprus records high prices in the milk, cheese, and egg category, with an index of 130.8, exceeding the EU average by 30.8%. Greece follows with an index of 130.5.
For oils and fats, the price index in Cyprus is 116.7, while the EU average is 100.6. For bread and cereals, the price index in Cyprus is 109.3, compared to 105.6 in the EU.
However, Cyprus appears less expensive for fruits, vegetables, and potatoes, with an index of 98.4, in contrast to countries such as Denmark (111.5) and France (119.2). For meat, the price index in Cyprus is 88.3, lower than the EU average of 106.2.
Regarding fish, the price index in Cyprus is 101.8, slightly higher than the EU average of 100.3 units.
