DHPA Calls for Support of the Cypriot National Wealth Fund

The Democratic Alignment (DHPA) is calling for support for the establishment of the Cypriot National Wealth Fund (CNWF), a proposal presented at the party's recent Political Congress.

DHPA Vice President, Mr. Lakkotrypis, stated that conditions are favorable for the adoption of the proposal, given the progress of the Cypriot economy, such as fiscal stability and reduced unemployment.

The National Wealth Fund aims to create a mechanism for saving and investing surpluses, with the goal of shielding the economy and financing strategic projects. An initial capital of 300-500 million euros is foreseen, sourced from surpluses and revenues from government projects.

DHPA proposes the use of international best practice standards, such as the Santiago Principles, to ensure the Fund's independence and reliability. The investment strategy will be diversified, with an emphasis on green growth, the digital economy, innovation, and energy.

In addition, the proposal includes the utilization of resources in sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, and social welfare. DHPA is calling on all political and social forces to support the establishment of the Fund, emphasizing that it is an act of responsibility towards future generations.
