OKYPY Withdraws Form on "Non-Binary Gender" After Backlash

Controversy arose after DISY MP Prodromos Alambritis publicized a form from OKYPY containing three gender options, including "Non-Binary Gender."
The MP sent a letter to the Minister of Health, expressing concerns about the addition, as there is no relevant provision in Cypriot law.
Following the uproar, OKYPY withdrew the specific form. When asked about how an intersex person should declare their gender on a medical form, OKYPY did not provide clear guidance.
Biology professor Dr. Myrtani Pieri stated that approximately 1.7% of the population does not fall into the traditional "male-female" dichotomy, referring to intersex individuals.
This leaves open the issue of registering intersex individuals in health matters.
