Paphos Fire: 5 Hectares of Vegetation Destroyed

A fire that broke out on Monday evening in an area between the communities of Pentalia, Galataria, and Salamiou in Paphos, burned 5 hectares of dry vegetation.
According to the Fire Service, the fire broke out in a difficult-to-access area and spread to two different hotspots. Two fire trucks from the Paphos fire station, two vehicles from the Department of Forests, a K.M.P of the Game Service, and an earthmover from the District Administration participated in the extinguishing operation.
Fire Service Spokesperson Andreas Kettis stated that the Service responded at 21:39 on Monday evening.
Firefighting forces remained in the area until morning for final extinguishing and to prevent flare-ups. The causes of the fire are being investigated by the Police.
