Avignon: Bride Killed in Armed Attack at Wedding Reception

An armed attack at a wedding reception in the village of Goult, near Avignon, France, resulted in the death of a 27-year-old bride.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when hooded individuals opened fire on the couple as they were leaving the reception hall. The 25-year-old groom and a 13-year-old child were injured and are hospitalized.
According to French authorities, one of the perpetrators was killed during an exchange of gunfire. An unknown number of accomplices managed to escape, and a large-scale operation is underway to locate them.
There were 28 people in the wedding hall at the time of the attack, and one woman sustained minor injuries. The mayor of the village, Didier Perello, expressed his outrage at the incident. French media suggest a possible settling of scores related to drugs, although there have been no official announcements.
The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into homicide and attempted homicide.
