Theodorikakos: Continuous Inspections Yield Results Against Profiteering

The Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, stated that continuous inspections are yielding results in combating profiteering. He emphasized that they are constantly monitoring developments and conducting inspections to prevent illegal speculation.
Mr. Theodorikakos reminded that the profit margin cap, based on the profit percentage of December 2021, is in effect until June 30. He also mentioned that there is no reason to extend the measure, as competition and informed consumers should be allowed to function.
The minister stated that on the first day of the war, inspections were carried out on those who attempted to raise prices, while DIMEA is also conducting inspections in supermarkets. He also emphasized readiness for any intervention that may be needed.
According to Mr. Theodorikakos, the answer to the cost of living is the productive transformation of the economy, the strengthening of the primary sector and manufacturing. He also referred to the upcoming announcement of the three new regimes of the development law.
Regarding OPEKEPE, the minister stressed the need for transparency and investigation of responsibilities, calling for the avoidance of hasty conclusions.
Mr. Theodorikakos also referred to reductions in 700 codes in supermarkets in November, the intervention to limit increases in insurance contracts, and the upgrading of the control mechanism with the new independent authority for consumer protection.
