For the third consecutive day, firefighting efforts continue in Chios, with firefighters and residents making superhuman efforts. The fire has caused extensive damage to homes and forest areas, and 112 has issued instructions for the evacuation of settlements.

Strong firefighting forces are operating in the Kampi area, in Agios Georgios Sykousis, trying to prevent the fire from spreading to Armolia and Mastichochoria. The mayor of Chios, Ioannis Malafis, stated that the outcome of the situation will depend on the weather conditions.

The Deputy Regional Governor of Chios, Nikos Nychtas, described the situation as "completely black," emphasizing the extent of the destruction. Fire meteorologist Thodoris Giannaros expressed concerns about a possible change in wind direction, which could threaten Mastichochoria.

The Regional Governor of the Northern Aegean, Kostas Moutzouris, stated that the situation has improved due to the exhaustion of the land and the reinforcement of aerial and ground resources, expressing hope that the situation will end soon.

According to estimates, 1/13 of the island (approximately 62,000 acres) has been engulfed in flames, causing enormous environmental damage. The municipality of Chios has declared the island in a state of emergency.
