NBA Surprise Trade: Celtics Send Holiday to Blazers for Simons

The Boston Celtics have traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons, according to Shams Charania.

Holiday, one of the league's best perimeter defenders, is changing teams after one year with the Celtics. This move is considered significant as the Celtics acquire a player nine years younger, whose contract expires next summer.

Simons' contract is approximately $10 million less than Holiday's.

The Blazers had acquired Holiday via trade in 2023 from the Bucks for Damian Lillard, before sending him to the Celtics for two future first-round draft picks.
