GPS Malfunctions in Coastal Areas and Impact on Navigation

GPS malfunctions are frequently observed in coastal areas of Cyprus, with reports of incorrect locations appearing on devices.
Instead of Agios Ioannis in Limassol, GPS devices may show locations in Jordan, Israel, or Lebanon. Similar problems are reported in Larnaca, where instead of Faneromeni Street, Beirut Airport is displayed.
Beyond inconsistencies in navigation in urban areas, more serious incidents have been recorded. According to reports, the increase in electronic interference in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz caused a collision between two tankers.
This incident, which occurred in the sea area between Iran and Oman, led to a fire. Initially, there were fears of an external attack, but it was eventually attributed to interference affecting the navigation systems of the ships.
