International Calls for De-escalation After Iran's Attack on Qatar

Following Iran's missile attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the international community is calling for restraint. French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need to end the "chaos" in the region.
Macron condemned the attack, which was in retaliation for the US bombings of three Iranian nuclear facilities, and expressed France's solidarity with Qatar. He called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and stated that he is in contact with the Qatari authorities and allies in the region.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul described the Iranian attack as "unacceptable" and assured that Germany stands by its partners in the Gulf states. He expressed hope that Iran and the US will show willingness to negotiate.
A US official reported that there were no casualties or serious damage to the base. The Qatari Foreign Ministry stated that the missiles were intercepted and that it reserves the right to respond under international law.
International analysts warn of the risk of a wider conflict. Macron stated that Iran bears heavy responsibility for the escalation, and Paris insists on the need to return to negotiations.
