Tornaritis Condemns Attack on Damascus Church

The head of the Cypriot Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Nikos Tornaritis, submitted a written statement condemning the terrorist attack on the Church of Saint Elias in Damascus, which occurred on June 23, 2025.
The statement, co-signed by PACE members from various political groups, emphasizes that the attack constitutes a violation of human rights and an affront to the freedom of religious practice.
Mr. Tornaritis condemned the incident, expressed condolences to the families of the victims, and supported the United Nations' call for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation.
The Parliamentary Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to the fight against terrorism and the defense of religious freedom, human dignity, and peace.
