Meloni: Trump is not to blame for the chaos in the Middle East

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during her address to the Italian Senate, referred to the crisis in the Middle East and the strategy that Europe should adopt.
Meloni stated that she does not believe Donald Trump is responsible for the current situation in the Middle East, calling this view a simplification.
"Regarding defense, I share the same opinion as the Romans, that if you want peace, you must prepare for war," the Italian Prime Minister emphasized. She also added that strengthening defense is not intended for attack, but to avoid armed conflicts.
Referring to Iran's nuclear program, Meloni stated that if Iran abandoned it for military purposes, there would no longer be a clear threat against Israel. Then, all that would remain would be to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and a serious path towards a two-state solution.
The secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, responded to Meloni, arguing that preparing for war is contrary to the needs and desires of Italy.
