Raouna: EU urged to lead de-escalation efforts in the Middle East

The Deputy Minister of European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, stated that the European Union must take a leading role in efforts to de-escalate the situation in the Middle East.
In statements prior to the General Affairs Council in Luxembourg, Ms. Raouna emphasized that the EU cannot remain a passive observer.
She also referred to Cyprus' role, given its geographical proximity to the region, noting that President Christodoulides and the Minister of Foreign Affairs are in constant communication with international and regional partners, as well as with European counterparts, promoting the need for de-escalation and diplomacy.
